Reagan Library & Getty Center

California’s Beloved Cultural Icons

Day 1 – Travel west to California. The motorcoch passes through Palm Springs and San Bernadino on the way to Simi Valley, home of the Ronald Reagan Library. Perched atop a hill with sweeping views of the south land, the Library is one of California’s most beautiful and unique destinations.

The museum features continually changing temporary exhibits and a permanent exhibit covering President Reagan’s life. A full scale replica of the Oval Office is a prominent feature. Other parts of the exhibit focus on Reagan’s ranch, the presidential retreat Camp David, life in the White House, and First Lady Nancy Reagan. Audio guides are available for an additional ($7) fee.

In Air Force One Pavilion, walk onboard the actual Air Force One aircraft, tail number 27000, which flew seven U.S. presidents. The hilltop grounds provide expansive views of the area, a re-creation of a portion of the White House Lawn, and a piece of the Berlin Wall. An F-14 Tomcat is also located on the grounds.

Accommodations for the night are at the Best Western Plus Posada Royale in Simi Valley. All rooms are equipped with WiFi, pillow-top mattresses, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and hair dryer.  Independent dinner at a nearby restaurant.

Day 2 – Begin the day with an included hotel breakfast. Today’s highlight is the Getty Center. Here you’ll find spectacular collections with some of the world’s most treasured impressionist paintings such as van Gogh’s Irises. The center presents the Getty’s collection of Western art from the Middle Ages to the present against a backdrop of dramatic architecture, tranquil gardens, and breathtaking views.

The Center offers complimentary tours to enhance your understanding of the art, architechture and gardens.

Stroll through the Stark Sculpture Garden, a 28-piece collection of modern sculptures. Featuring works from the 20th century’s greatest sculptors, the outdoor sculpture garden consists of a series of intimate and peaceful outdoor gallery rooms designed to invoke contemplation and conversation among viewers.

After ample time to explore, reboard the motorcoach for the return trip. Sequence of attractions subject to change due to weather, routing or scheduling.
